Happy New Year!
It's finally 2012! What are your new year's resolutions? Are you giving them a miss, or starting absolutely fresh with a new approach?
Me? Well, I already have my truck license, but it's high time I obtained my boat license seeing we've had one for two years now. Hubby and I have decided our motorbike license would be cool too. Hubby used to own a motorcycle, but I think being a little on the wild side back in his day, he lost it along the way. He's calmed down now, and so it's time to consider being Temporary Australians for a bit.
I'm not buying anything new this year thanks so the inspirational Coo from And then there were four. I'm so impressed that she went a whole year without buying one single new thing. And after giving it a bit of thought (actually months, and months of 'can I do this?'), I'm biting the bullet. I've limited it to just what I buy for me and the lads seeing hubby doesn't want to buy second hand clothes. But seeing he already buys nothing all year anyhow, and lately has been purchasing second hand books (the only other things he buys), we figured it's a pretty good compromise.
Plus, as well as that, I'm going to just be me. Which isn't much of a change, but I'm making an attempt to be more honest with myself; about what I can achieve in a day; who I am as a person (the real version); and not to be ashamed of my passions and beliefs.
Actually, in real life I'm pretty honest about the latter. But here on my blog, not as much.
There is a lot I don't share here, and perhaps I might be brave enough to say what I really think on matters (not that I didn't before, but I just avoided the matter altogether). So perhaps this year, you might hear a more honest, more opinionated me.
Enough with the resolutions already. How did you bring in the new year?
We headed to Mornington with our bathers and lads, ate chips and toasted sandwiches at a nearby park, swam at the foreshore, and ate ice cream.
The boys got to christen their new bathers and boogie boards...
... while I got to watch them...
On our way home, we looked at the last of the Christmas lights, until Madison declared that he absolutely could not keep his eyes open anymore.
We were home by 11:30pm. Just enough time to get ready for bed, have a celebration drink and kiss just before the fireworks went off.
A perfect evening, in my books!

why does it NOT surprise me that you have your truck license?!?
i do have to take you to task with your "Temporary Australians" comment though - with a husband that rides every single day i hate that saying! the only way he's going to be one of those is if he's picked off by a car driver LOL
good luck with the no spend year - we are on a similar promise this year, we have to ask ourselves if we really need something before we buy it and all frivolous purchases have been banned!
and i *love* this -
"and not to be ashamed of my passions and beliefs."
you should never be ashamed of those :-)
i hope 2012 is an awesome year for you and yours!
~x~
I've just been reading through old posts & comments on my blog with Captain V and when I read out comments from you I'd exclaim "That's Kymmie, she's absolutely gorgeous inside and out.".
So imagine my delight when I then scooted over to my Reader list and this post was on the top!
Your goals for the year are mighty but I have absolutely NO doubt whatsoever that you will achieve them and yet again I'll be gobsmacked by your capacity to live life to the fullest.
Sending a great big hug from far away.
xx
Oh you girls are absolutely amazing!!! I love you and you are my reason for blogging!
I do love the idea of hearing more from you on lots of different things, Kymmie. I happen to know first-hand that you have such a lovely way of agreeing to disagree and I think sparking more of that will do you no end of good.
Happy new year, beautiful gal. x
Happy New Year Kymmie! Loving your necklace. I have no resolutions this year, I always find it hard to stick to them. I just plan to make 2012 the best year yet!
Happy New Year!!!
I went to bed at 10:20pm but trekked 22km's today to start the year. Ha!
I absolutely can't wait to read more of "you" this year. Looking forward to it!
xoxo
Oh Happy New Year you gorgeous gorgeous thing, Kymmie!
Sounds like a superb New Year (we have new boogie boards here too, so COOL!)
Look forward to taking in anything you have to say this year my dear. It is a tricky one with just what you will say and won't say on your own blog, I often feel that sense of turmoil.
Love your pics :o) xo
Happy New Year, Kymmie! Love the pics of you and your adorable family. And you, my dear, are simply as gorgeous as ever. Love your goals too & I can't wait to hear more from you :) I've just blogged about my goals for 2012 as well...as you rate a mention. Any prizes for guessing why? LOL xx
Happy New Year, Kymmie. It has been a fantastic joy ride with you since I discovered your blog. Looking forward to your posts this 2012.
Happiest of New Years Kymmie. Thanks for the book list, I am reading one of my daughters called The Particualr Sadness of Lemon Cake and really enjoying it. Just finished When God was a Rabbit for bookclub which was read in three sittings.
I posted yesterday about the no new things from Multiple Mum too. We have committed to January for a start.
Played canasta with our big girls to bring in the New Year, lots of laughs.
Could you be any more gorgeous and cool (seriously a truck license!)
I hope 2012 is just wonderful for you Kymmie x
Good luck with the no new thing challenge. I will be interested to read how you are going with it further down the track.
Isn't mother's beach gorgeous? My boys love it. We live in Mt Martha, so we often head up there for walks and a dip in the shallows.
I agree with Maxabella. I'd love to hear your opinions. You're a kind soul, but I'd love to hear your voice in full. It's scary opening up in writing because people can take it the wrong way, but I think it makes for a richer conversation.
Happy 2012. x
All of you look great :-) And it's Summer there!!
Have an awesome 2012 Kymmie :-)))
I look forward to hearing/seeing more of you and your real opinions, Kym and orange (tangerine, burnt sienna etc) is your colour!
As for not buying clothes for twelve months, I think I'll be in that too. I won't include Sapphire because she's the new kid starting high school and grows every time I'm not looking at her, but our budget in the second most expensive city in the world makes this challenge one that I have to be in!
oooh happy 2012 honey!! wishing you love, laughter, life and dreams coming true!!! I love the fact that we are also friends IRL and I know that you can do anything you put your mind to.
you go girl xx
