DAYS OF SUMMER.

The first of the warm days appear, and suddenly you can't wait for it anymore. Summer is so close, you can taste it.

Warmer days and nights, later sunsets, minimal clothing, endless salads, and - my favourite - living by the water.

The lads are counting down the days until Christmas, but for me, I'm waiting for the next trip to the beach when the weather is warm.

Are you waiting for summer, or even just a lovely day?

Madison + Noah: It's the eyes. It's the laugh.
As a mother, I just can't get enough of them and love them to bits.

THE TIME TRAVELLER'S LIFE.

I know, I know. It's been so terribly impersonal here lately. There's the 52 project which keeps my beloved family happy with updates of the lads, but there's not much here about what's new with us.

What with kinder half days, working more, starting my own business, renovating a beach cottage... there just doesn't seem to be the energy to put myself into this space. I'm not letting you know that I'm quitting this blog (hell no!), but visiting here has ended up being more random than I ever thought it would be. It's just the last thing on my ever-growing list.

But now that the house is quiet, and there's some rare time for reflection, here I sit. Pondering on the year that is passing by too quickly to understand.

Yes, it's been busy. Kinder for three hours a day is not constructive to any sort of work, and the feeling of watching my clock has become habit. How I long for hours of uninterrupted time just to get into a productive space without the need for a pick up/drop off/appointment.

Yet while I say how busy it's been, there's been a little space for friends. Time to discover a new playground or take an afternoon stroll. Here and there are tiny gaps of peace.

And some quiet in the crazy.

FRIDAY CHILD.

Once upon a time, I use to be home more. I had time to bake cupcakes, play with children and live in what seemed to be a never-ending story of toys and children clutter. Each week, in addition to my own little lad, I had my "Friday Children". Most weeks, two friends and I did a 'kid swap' so we could manage a child free day to work on our growing businesses (go and check out my clever friends here: Kipindi Photography and Tildys).

These children don't see each other every week like they use to, and I miss them so much. Little sandy footprints on the wooden floors, happy sounds from our little cubby house. Requests for popcorn while watching Mickey Mouse... those days seem so long ago.

School is so close now. And in less than a few months, these kids will be uniformed up, and carrying a bag bigger than themselves.

A chapter is about to close, and I'm feeling so fondly about a time that was so good.
