this saturday i'm grateful for... time to re-group

Due to a dodgy wireless connection and a few other things, I've had a chance to prioritise in the past two weeks what are the most important things in my life. Surprisingly, my family and some well needed sleep were high on the list. But I do confess I'm glad that the DSL light is not blinking red as often as it did, because I sure did miss this blogging thing.

As a result, this week I'm especially grateful for...
  1. My birthday boys. This week my boys turned 2 and 5 respectively. Yes, only two days (and three years) apart. It's a big birthday week here at our place. Plus, it wouldn't be a surprise to hear that I can't believe how quickly the time has flown, and that these big lads have replaced my babies. Although I'm finding the two year old a challenge right now, I'm sure that with more sleep I can keep abreast with his (mis)adventures.
  2. Paying it forward. While I'm still pondering on the best sort of gift I can send via snail mail, this week I received my first PIF package. We all know how exciting it is to get a parcel at the front door, so I was doubley delighted to find two little beanies (pictured above) for my lads, and a loop scarf for me. Thank you so much Tammie @ Little Poppa for your home made love, and adorable gifts... and for Paying It Forward faster than me!
  3. Time to re-group. I'm not going to lie to you, it's been a long and hard two weeks. I've withdrawn from blogging and a whole bunch of social stuff. I've even canned producing and filming of a kids program in July which has lifted the load. Seems I'm a tired and needed to re-group and re-prioritise. It's been good for the soul. And my sanity.
What are you grateful for today?

  1. Sorry to hear you've been having a tough time, but good for you for being kind to yourself. I find birthday time - although fun - can be really taxing, on top of everything else.
Hope your boys had lovely birthdays. I'm sure those beanies will keep them snug over this cold, wet winter. x

  2. Welcome back Miss Kymmie :)
I had such a week last week and took a bit of time out, we need to allow ourselves time to regroup when we feel like things are getting the better of us.

So glad you received your PIF gift, I kinda just guessed the boys sizes for the hats and the cowl was made up as I went, I thought the blue would look fab on you!

    Wishing you a wonderful weekend.
    Xx

  5. My simple answer to your question - friends like you whom I've met whilst blogging.

My extended version answer to your question - your wisdom to know when to 'pull back' and refocus your energy; your capacity to be grateful when busyness could overwhelm; your sparkle and your reminder about the PIF project which I have been very slack in getting sorted.

xx to you for a wonderful weekend with your special family of Littles.

  7. Oh, Kymmie, good for you, my friend. Knowing when to pull back is devilishly tricky, I've discovered. My bloggy rehab isn't going too well. I need more sleep. Thanks for reminding me of my priorities. I hope you can continue to feel re-energised by making those changes. J x

Sorry to hear you've had some challenges going on in your world. Downtime is so important for us all. It's great that you recognised it was needed, before you burnt out altogether. Happy Weekend to you!

  11. Oh, such a poignant piece. That the "long and hard two weeks" was contained in a "This Saturday I'm grateful for..." post.

  12. I hear you. My motto of 2011 is the simple life, but things start to get out of control regularly, then I have to stop, regroup, sort out my crap and start the simple life again, it's a constant effort but worth it.

  14. As someone who understand blog hiatus, I can sympathize :) But I always tell myself, sometimes you need some time just for yourself to get the clarity you need, so don't feel back for taking some time. I hope you have a wonderful weekend with your beautiful boys!

  19. Oh yes, i'm lightening my load too, it's so fantastic & you never miss the pressure & suddenly wonder why some things were so important at the time. Children first, that's is all & 4 is pretty consuming, thus dropping P&C duties & on the look out for what else i can ditch. Wishing you lovely clear headspace, it's not easy to keep things at bay. Have a super Sunday with your family, love Posie

  23. Good on you for taking the time out to think things through. The more time you can get with those beanie-boys the better! Some things just have to give so we can... give, I guess!!

I'm glad you only just received your PIF gift as I haven't created / sent mine yet and I've been feeling so guilty. This made me feel better. x
