Due to a dodgy wireless connection and a few other things, I've had a chance to prioritise in the past two weeks what are the most important things in my life. Surprisingly, my family and some well needed sleep were high on the list. But I do confess I'm glad that the DSL light is not blinking red as often as it did, because I sure did miss this blogging thing.
As a result, this week I'm especially grateful for...
- My birthday boys. This week my boys turned 2 and 5 respectively. Yes, only two days (and three years) apart. It's a big birthday week here at our place. Plus, it wouldn't be a surprise to hear that I can't believe how quickly the time has flown, and that these big lads have replaced my babies. Although I'm finding the two year old a challenge right now, I'm sure that with more sleep I can keep abreast with his (mis)adventures.
- Paying it forward. While I'm still pondering on the best sort of gift I can send via snail mail, this week I received my first PIF package. We all know how exciting it is to get a parcel at the front door, so I was doubley delighted to find two little beanies (pictured above) for my lads, and a loop scarf for me. Thank you so much Tammie @ Little Poppa for your home made love, and adorable gifts... and for Paying It Forward faster than me!
- Time to re-group. I'm not going to lie to you, it's been a long and hard two weeks. I've withdrawn from blogging and a whole bunch of social stuff. I've even canned producing and filming of a kids program in July which has lifted the load. Seems I'm a tired and needed to re-group and re-prioritise. It's been good for the soul. And my sanity.
Sorry to hear you've been having a tough time, but good for you for being kind to yourself. I find birthday time - although fun - can be really taxing, on top of everything else.
ReplyDeleteHope your boys had lovely birthdays. I'm sure those beanies will keep them snug over this cold, wet winter. x
Welcome back Miss Kymmie :)
ReplyDeleteI had such a week last week and took a bit of time out, we need to allow ourselves time to regroup when we feel like things are getting the better of us.
So glad you received your PIF gift, I kinda just guessed the boys sizes for the hats and the cowl was made up as I went, I thought the blue would look fab on you!
Wishing you a wonderful weekend.
Xx
Regrouping is a regular occurrence around these parts. It's the best. Wishing you a peaceful weekend x
ReplyDeleteI must say I have missed your posts - but totally understand the re-grouping and sleeping thing!! I've moved over to wordpress - so this week I'm grateful for that. (I'm not so grateful that I now have to use google reader!!)
ReplyDeleteMy simple answer to your question - friends like you whom I've met whilst blogging.
ReplyDeleteMy extended version answer to your question - your wisdom to know when to 'pull back' and refocus your energy; your capacity to be grateful when busyness could overwhelm; your sparkle and your reminder about the PIF project which I have been very slack in getting sorted.
xx to you for a wonderful weekend with your special family of Littles.
Oh Kym, thanks for being honest with the everyday struggles. I hear you, and understand, and wish you peace and rest.
ReplyDeleteOh, Kymmie, good for you, my friend. Knowing when to pull back is devilishly tricky, I've discovered. My bloggy rehab isn't going too well. I need more sleep. Thanks for reminding me of my priorities. I hope you can continue to feel re-energised by making those changes. J x
ReplyDeleteOh so lovely to hear from you! phew - i was slightly concerned!! I am relieved that you are into all that prioritising and getting it all in order!!! Happy birthday to those gorgeous boys of yours!! wow-ee!! Jude will be 5 soon too so I can totally get that whole "where did the time go" thing! as for the beanies - Adooooooorrrrrable! Have the most spectaular weekend gorgeous girl (doing not much - i hope!)

Kymmie, your boys are gorgeous! How lovely that they share a birthday week, it must be fun around this time of year for you :o)
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear you've had some challenges going on in your world. Downtime is so important for us all. It's great that you recognised it was needed, before you burnt out altogether. Happy Weekend to you!
do you know, I was just popping over here to leave you a comment to tell you I was going to call you tomorrow (tad late now) to make sure you were okay - we've missed you!
ReplyDeleteSo understandable that you needed a bloggy break - and well done for pulling back on work too if you need the rest.
Be kind to yourself :-)
have a great weekend - and happy birthday to your gorgeous boys!!
xxxCate
Oh, such a poignant piece. That the "long and hard two weeks" was contained in a "This Saturday I'm grateful for..." post.
ReplyDeleteI hear you. My motto of 2011 is the simple life, but things start to get out of control regularly, then I have to stop, regroup, sort out my crap and start the simple life again, it's a constant effort but worth it.
ReplyDeleteYour boys are so cute! and Happy Belated Birthday to them both ;)

As someone who understand blog hiatus, I can sympathize :) But I always tell myself, sometimes you need some time just for yourself to get the clarity you need, so don't feel back for taking some time. I hope you have a wonderful weekend with your beautiful boys!
ReplyDelete- the runaway
Good on you for pulling back and looking after yourself. Very hard thing to do sometimes, but so worth it in the long run! Happy Birthday to your gorgeous little boys! My sisters have birthdays a few days apart and mine is only a few weeks later - birthday time at our house was fantastic!
ReplyDeleteWe all need to step back and re-group sometimes. Glad it helped. Gald your back too.
ReplyDeleteNice to hear from you again..but very glad that you took time to reprioritise and get to know what your needs are at this time..well done!
ReplyDeletei had wondered where you had got to. Sorry to hear that things have been tough but good on you for putting the care of yourself and your family first. Look at those two cheeky little faces in their adorable hats. I bet they are hard work, happy birthday to the two of them!
ReplyDeleteTake Care, Kymmie
Gill xo
Oh yes, i'm lightening my load too, it's so fantastic & you never miss the pressure & suddenly wonder why some things were so important at the time. Children first, that's is all & 4 is pretty consuming, thus dropping P&C duties & on the look out for what else i can ditch. Wishing you lovely clear headspace, it's not easy to keep things at bay. Have a super Sunday with your family, love Posie
ReplyDeletePressure, pressure, pressure! It makes our heads explode. Good on you for knowing to step back and shake it up.
ReplyDeleteGood for you! The more I hear of people pulling back and regrouping, the more I feel justified in doing it myself (er... not that I have yet!)
ReplyDeleteOh your boys look gorgeous, especially love there new beanies! :)
ReplyDeleteGood on you for taking the time out to think things through. The more time you can get with those beanie-boys the better! Some things just have to give so we can... give, I guess!!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you only just received your PIF gift as I haven't created / sent mine yet and I've been feeling so guilty. This made me feel better. x
I am sorry the last fews weeks have been hard. I am glad that it gave you some time out and that you got to re prioritise.
ReplyDeleteYours babies are just gorgeous!
