THIS SATURDAY I'M GRATEFUL FOR... PHOTOGRAPHS IN OUR MEMORIES.

This week the sun was shining, I had a houseful of children (namely Matilda and Zoe), and if that isn't reason enough to be grateful, we thought we'd enjoy a backyard picnic too.

Life is busy, isn't it? And while there's lots of shenanigans in my life, I've hardly had a spare second to get out the camera and actually record it. But this week, I made the effort.

Once upon an Addictive Blog ago, I took photos every. single. day. It's something that my husband my teases me constantly for, but now the camera is hardly used, I think it's disgraceful. I feel like I'm missing out on recording all those special moments with my children; catching all those cute phrases they say, and seeing their little natures in action.

But I shouldn't worry. My husband has an amazing memory. And while I'm snapping away, he often says I should enjoy the moment instead of grabbing the camera. Because "I'll only have a memory of it in camera form, rather in real life form". Sometimes I see his point, but other times I'm scared the memories will disappear.

So, while I'm taking photographs in my mind *click*, I don't mind taking beautiful photos to add to the memories, because it all helps us to absorb the good times. Doesn't it?
 What are you grateful for?

  1. Oh yes memories are the best but I too grab at the camera... But I need to turn it on myself as my hubby is not the camera grabbing kind either I worry in ten years time my kids will say "where were you mummy?" and I'll have to reply " behind the camera!!!" lovely snaps and why that picnic spot looks awful familiar!!! Have a lovely weekend xxxx

  2. Cameras are fun but they can get in the way of the moment. It's all about balance I guess.

  3. I go back and forth with this as well. I LOVE my pictures, my shutterfly books BUT sometimes I just want to enjoy the moment so I do - then bam it hits me I have no photos of that :) the pattern continues

  4. I have a terrible memory, so I very quickly forget the good times. It's only by looking back on photos that I'll remember the things we've done, so for me taking photos is a really important part of my life. Sometimes I regret not taking enough photos, but I've never wished I hadn't taken the pictures I have.

  5. glad that you brought this up, Kymmie. I personally would rather enjoy the moment and be fully present rather than click away. But I also do not want to let it pass without recording some moments for posterity. I agree with A. It's all about balance.

  6. Gorgeous photos Kym, and a great point to make! I like to look with my eyes first, take in the scene... and then snap a pic as a keepsake. :-)

  7. Totally get this Kymmie. It's such a delicate balance isn't it?! I am in full blog/photo/record keeping mode at this stage and hope to keep it up for as long as I can.
But I do see the beauty in appreciating a moment for what it is. So I try to do a bit of both.
Love your photos here, so fun and happy. And you're looking as gorgeous as ever xo

  9. My husband teases/gets completely exasperated at me for all the photos I take, he is not a photo taker at all. On his good days he thanks me for taking all the photos of our girl though :)

  10. I would love to take more photos but I am one of those people who take 35 bad ones and 4 good ones.
So we have just been enjoying the moments ... and I kinda like it that way!
