IF THIS DOOR COULD SPEAK...

This door has been my project for two days now. And while I scrape and sand away at its layers, I wonder. Where has it lived? What homes has it been part of? What sort of 'life' has it had?

If it could talk, what would it say? Would it share the lives of the families that have lived in those homes? Would it count how many loving embraces of welcome received under its frame? Would it reveal the many times it had been slammed in anger or frustration, or how many people knocked on its glorious stain glass windows, or rapped on its sturdy timber?

And now that I am removing the layers, would it rather that I expose it's old timber, paint and plaster, or prefer that I cover it up with a fresh new coat? Would it like all its holes exposed for all to see, or glued up and hidden?

In it's raw state, it's so beautiful. It's a sight to behold. What is revealed today, will be gone tomorrow. Not forever. Just until the next time...

With new stories to tell.

FROM THE SUBURBS TO THE BEACH. AGAIN.

Goodbye work. Goodbye suburbs and busy traffic.

From the cold winter in Melbourne (where everything is so green!), back to the sounds of crashing waves at Port Fairy. The rest of our long service leave will be spent completing the renovation to the the beach cottage, and begin the extension. The original cottage is almost finished (photos coming real soon!), and we are ready to knock down the old kitchen, bathroom, toilet and laundry (which are literally crumbling around us anyway). The hot water system has long gone, there are leaks and drafts everywhere. We are currently boiling water and finding out where we can er, use the bathroom, and have made a deal with our closest caravan park.

We will be doing it tough for the next seven weeks or so, but know the reward will be worth it in the end!

| Scooting in unison; overgrown and healthy thanks to all the rain we've been having; enjoying the late afternoon sun while we unpack our trailer (see all those lovely goodies in the background?); Saturday afternoon walks around our Melbourne home; when they're not fighting they're the best of friends; the best part about the last part of renovating is loaning all those home magazines from the library and dreaming about how to furnish the new space; my darling husband right back into it; toy catalogues are the best entertainment ever! |

Thanks for stopping by! How has your week been?

FANCY PANTS [VINTAGE STRIPED DENIM]

Vintage shops are the best. Yes, they are. This striped denim jacket with 3/4 sleeves was just $15. We're not a big fan of a special label, but this jacket has it.

The vintage store is located next to my husband's favourite second hand bookshop. (Which deserves its own post.) He had a set of books on hold and really wanted them immediately. So we went together, and I popped in next door after getting a little lost in his bookshop*.

I digress... the vintage store was divine, and it was hard to walk out with just this jacket and a cute little blouse (also very cheap $$). I was in love with some little dishes, some LPs and a few other bits. But as my husband lovingly puts it, my kitchen is full. In fact, both kitchens are. So really, this jacket ought to be getting out and about to make up for the other purchases.

I'm now wearing in far too regularly. I mean, it needs to be washed, right?

Have you ever seen a bookshop so full that there are piles of books everywhere? (Really, this shop has to be seen to be believed!) Have you visited any vintage stores and found lots of lovely treasures?

SINGLET, Giordano.
GRANDPA TEE,  JeansWest.
DENIM JACKET, Vintage.
CARGOS, JayJays.
BIKER BOOTS, Betts.
SCARF + EARRINGS, Target.

*I know technically it's not his bookshop. But he is a regular customer, and he calls it his. Nothing like a bit of ownership?

A portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2013.

Noah: He has mastered his new two-wheeler scooter. Now nobody can keep up with him!
Madison: He's moved his Lego stash to the spare bedroom where he can build. Uninterrupted.
