EAT: RENATE'S VEGETARIAN SAUSAGE ROLLS
MAKES 40 | PREP 15 MINS | COOKING 25 MINS | VEGETARIAN
At a friend's daughter's birthday party, she served these sausage rolls. OMG - they were to die for! I made a bit of a piggy out of myself, because I couldn't stop eating them! Renate shared the recipe (she's that kind of friend!), and it's on our table a lot. The recipe makes enough to freeze (makes 40), but they don't last that long at our place.
Hubby doesn't even think they're bad. And dipped in sweet chilli sauce... delish!

WHAT HE SAID NEXT... AND THE MAROONDAH FESTIVAL.
Kids say the cutest and funniest things. And so this month at a day in the life of us,
what he said will be shared each day.
[At the festival face painting stall]
"I'd like to be a yellow lion. But green."
And because today was so much fun, here's some more pictures of the Festival, which was so close to our home we walked there.
I realised today that our 4 year old is becoming more and more daring. The moment we arrived, he wanted to try everything. Hoolahoops. Bungee Jumping. Mini Golf. Diving. The Giant Slide. Jumping Castle.
He loved the Bungee so much he was doing backflips in no time (see video below) and even had a chance to get a bird's eye view of the next thing he wanted to do (dodgem cars - he was too small to go on them). What is it with kids that they're in the middle of doing something really, really cool, but are looking for the next thing? Anyhow, he's very adventurous. He tried everything he was allowed to go on (just about everything was free - thank you Local Council) and was fearless. Needless to say he had such a great time, he didn't want to go.
As for the 17 month old, it's already obvious he's Evil Kinevil in a not-very-good disguise. I'm not gonna lie to you: he's really going to be a worry.
The rain held off until just now (perfect timing as the Festival has just finished), but it was a perfect day to stroll around the stalls, eat hot dogs (the boys), corn on a stick (darling hubby) and roti and curry (me). The boys finished their meal with churros (spanish donuts) and ice cream cones. That's what festivals are for, aren't they? Junk food to be enjoyed as a very, very special sometimes treat.
The best bit was that Madison remembered the Festival from last year and has been excited all week. So I suspect that today will also be filed under "Good Memories".
For us too.
Madison wears: TSHIRT, Milkshake. CARGO ROLL UP PANTS, Milkshake. BASEBALL CAP, Mambo (pre-loved by Leah & Daisy). THONGS, Target. Noah wears: TSHIRT, Target (pre-loved by Madison). DENIM SHORTS, Target (pre-loved by Lucas).

fancy pants
And yes, if you were wondering... he does have a mouth full of food. New thing: we keep it in our mouth for a very long time. And if I ask him if he has finished eating, he delightfully shares with me all those yummy (uneaten) contents. Delightful.
The photographs were taken at Grandma's place on Saturday. It was my Father in law's birthday and the kids just loved running around in their big (and beautifully lawned) backyard. Of course, the eldest (below) spent so much time running around I didn't get a good picture, so had to wait until we got home and by that time he was OVER IT. And it was getting dark, hence the reason why I've put a vintage action on the photographs.
Noah wears: TSHIRT, Kids World (pre-loved by Jacob & Owen). SHIRT, Pumpkin Patch (pre-loved by Lucas). CARGO SHORTS, Cotton On Kids (pre-loved by Madison, gift from big sister Kelly). Madison wears: SHIRT, Jack & Milly. TSHIRT, WitcheryKids. CARGO SHORTS, WitcheryKids.

WHAT HE SAID NEXT...
[This morning, re-inacting his first successful escape from the cot at just 17 months old.]
"First the cot; then the world. Mwahahahaha!"
Okay, so he can't talk just yet. But if he could talk, I reckon that's what he'd say.

this saturday i'm grateful for... vibrant colours in my garden
Saturdays are the days where our household comes to a grinding halt. (Except sleeping and eating, perhaps). And because it's the last day of the week, I often reflect on the six past days and remember all the things I'm grateful for...
- Lavender. Irises. Roses. And now our vegies are starting to come up. Our gardens look beeeaauutiful. Now warm weather, whenever you're ready...
- Mrs Formenti's banana cake. It reminds me of great memories, plus it's delicious.
- Normal life. Now that renovating is over this month, we can relax for a bit. Before it starts all over again. Next month.
- I love that things still surprise me. Last week a friend of mine had her baby. No, make that two. She ended up having twins (amazing photographs of the babies here). No-one knew, not the midwife, not even my friend. It blew so many of us away, I still can't stop thinking about it.
