paying it forward: five handmade things from me to you

Isn't this the loveliest idea ever? It's been going around like wildfire on Facebook. And I've almost done it several times, but fear about what the hell I would make sent me into a cold sweat (even though those offering were just going to make the most scrumptious things). But fear had stopped me until now.

And here I am doing this. Why?
  • Because I have all year to fulfill this promise.
  • Because it's only five things (possibly the same five somethings).
  • And because Cate asked me to. (Well, she didn't particularly ask me, but I started this whole thing about trying something new every week. And who best to take on the challenge but me?)

So, if I'm okay with this, you can be too.

Here's how it works:

I promise something handmade to the FIRST 5 people who leave a comment here. To be eligible, you must repost this message, offering something handmade to 5 other people. The rules are that it must be handmade by you, and it must be sent to your 5 giftees sometime in 2011. Ready, set, GO!

I've already got some lovely ideas, and it will be made with love. Just for you.

Are you ready? GO!

  1. Lovely idea Kym. I need some incentive to get creative again while I am settling in. Also time to get my blog updated too :-)

Count me in - and anything handmade from you will be lovely!

  2. I came by from Cate and just maybe
    I can try do this.

I am not crafty or creative at all but since we have a year and I can read all the wonderful craft DIY blogs for inpsiration I 'd like to try.

I guess my fear is finding 5 people who want to join my PIF too.

I love your idea too of 'try something new each week' ...maybe I won't each week but what an opportunity to think about the things I could do if I put my mind to it.

  3. I am not commenting to be added to your list as I am already on one, just wanted to say that I too had a fear that I wouldn't get five people to PIF to and as yet I still have no one and also it's a bit daunting to make a gift for someone you hardly know even if you are the creative type. I think that is the biggest thing holding most people back...good on you for taking the challenge!!

  8. I keep reading this everywhere - and something I would looove to do...problem is as newbie to the blogging world, every single one of my followers would have to pay it forward :-)
I'd love to see an update on what handmade things you pass on to those lucky handful.. do you think that could be in the cards?
