COUNTING MY STEPS AND MOVING THE WORLD.

There's nothing like whacking on a pedometer, putting your work colleagues in teams of 8 and getting you all to walk 10,000 steps or more every day (along with a hundred or so other teams around the world) in a race for health and awareness.

Seriously. My boss thought it would be a brilliant idea if we all joined in. I guess he figured that most of his employees spent far too many frequent flyer points on their posteriors and not enough time on their feet. So, we've had the pep talk from our health sector (yes, that would be Sanitarium, the Weet-Bix people) and are all getting health checks. Plus finding out who is really competitive in the office.

It just so happens that I might (or might not) be one of them.

And so perhaps the expectation might be that I should be beating everyone seeing I work mostly from home and spend the other hours of the day chasing two energetic lads. It might just give me a head start.

But it's actually been fun. I'm enjoying the challenge of 10,000 steps a day, and was actually surprised to find that I do more than that. Without even trying!

And it's getting me in good habits. Plus joining the gym recently, the timing couldn't have been more perfect.

How about you? Have you joined the Global Corporate Challenge, or done something entirely different that's new this week?

Why don't you join in? All you have to do is follow me, add your Try Something New post below and add a link back to me in your post. You can also include the lovely button (below)Then pop over to visit other bloggers who have done something new this week.

  2. Good on YOU Kymmie, you'll nail it I'm sure and I think that kind of team bonding is really beneficial in the work place.
It is timely, as hubby and I entered something similar today. We're both taking part in the City 2 Surf, in Sydney, this year. We signed up through work, so we can raise money for 1 of 2 charities.
I think everyone is jumping on board and stepping up to the challenge. Last year, our company had 25 entrants, this year that figure has spiked to 450! Go team GO! xo

  7. I've done this a couple of times Kymmie. I can confirm it is fun. Sometimes, however there is nowhere cute to fasten that pedometer, particularly when wearing dresses. But anyway- it's mostly fun! Enjoy the rest of the challenge :)
