s is for sleep

Sleep: Good sleep habits in childhood directly influence those in later life. Place some reasonable boundaries around bed times and stick with them.

Sleep and I were best friends.

It's sad because we used to get along so well. There were hours and hours we spent together in the silence and comfort of each other. So warm and inviting, so still and peaceful.

You know those friendships where you don't need to say anything. You can just see and know? That's how our friendship was.

But alas, four years ago there was a decline in our relationship. We spent less time together. We were continually interrupted, and then Sleep had to share its time with The Others.

And despite how much I try to put our relationship on a better footing, I fail.

I know it's me that is as fault. Sleep is the ever-faithful friend. But I keep trying.

On the other hand, the relationship between The Others and Sleep have made a marked improvement. There's story time, cuddles, prayer and sleep. And for the most part, perhaps 10-12 hours uninterrupted time together. I hope that there's a long and loving relationship that happens between them that continues for a long, long time.

And hopefully once the sleeping habits of The Others get better, then I can get our relationship back on track.

And be together.

Like it used to be.

How is your relationship with Sleep? Are you best friends or distant acquaintances?

  1. *Yawn* Sleep and I were so close, once. Now he just taunts e from the bed at 3am, while I am rocking the baby to sleep. *sigh*

  2. Sleep? I knew her once. She was a fickle friend, so easily influenced by the whims of others'. I only hope that one day she and I will be reunited when she grows up and realises that the others are fine on their own. x
