this saturday i'm grateful for... health & the human spirit


Saturdays are the days where our household stops. No TV, no hyper stimulation. Time to spend time together and just be. And because it's our day of rest, there's time to reflect on the six past days and remember all the things I'm grateful for...
  1. Health. This week I've listened to my body and rested (and rested). I'm not ever going to take my health for granted ever again.
  2. The human spirit. Nothing is more inspiring or empowering than the human spirit. Or encouraging either.
  3. My family and friends. This week, my family (and friends) gathered round and took turns looking after the little lads while I was flat on my back. Thank you Mum, Dad, Hubby, Ange and so many others who supported me this week (including my lovely blog friends!). I am forever thankful.

    It is times like now that we feel a bit like we dodged a bullet and need to be thankful that we have that chance to appreciate life and all it's joy!

  2. I had some fairly serious and unpleasant health issues last year and I could not agree with your list more. I no longer take feeling well and fit for granted. (I am well again now - yay!)

    I, too, was stunned by the support I got from family and friends over the year, particularly in regards to the kids.

    Too many of us keep pushing on until we are faced with a truly huge health challenge, so it's refreshing to read your post today and I hope that the week to come finds you going from strength to strength.

  6. I'm glad you're on the mend. Back in the day people used to convalesce the minute they felt unwell. Now we dose ourselves up and 'solider on' - what a silly thing to do. The body needs rest to concentrate on healing. You are very wise. x

  9. Love that you're off the sheets! What a great family to rally around when you needed them. My knee is steadily improving too and I value every time I walk now...health is something to be very very grateful for...and I have a new compassion for those who can't walk now. I am sure you would feel the same about people who are now where you were last week.

  16. Oh Kimmie big hugs to you!! Good on you for accepting help and stopping when you needed to. I love the idea of a stimulus-free day, God knows my boys need that! And good on you for being grateful. So many of us forget to be grateful and instead live like someone owes us something all the time. I love your honesty!
